Definition: Dental caries is defined as a microbial disease of the calcified tissues of the teeth, characterized by demineralization of the inorganic substance of the tooth.

Treatment
Treatment involves fillings with dental meterials after removal of the carious lesion. Gross caries or pulpitis needs Root Canal treatment and can be saved for lifelong by providing porcelin or metalic crown.
