Haemorhagic disorders

Bleeding time :
The bleeding time varies depending on the method employed. Usually it is within the range of 5 to 10 minutes.

Prothrombin time :
The normal prothrambin time is 11 to 15 sec.

Coagulation time:
The normal coagulation ranges from 10 to 25 minutes.

Hypoprothrombinaemia.
Patients require vit-K therapy for 3 days before oral surgical procedures such as extractions to prevent excessive bleeding. Patients on anti-coagulation therapy should stop the Rx before dental procedures or fresh plasma may be transferred.
